When C0550 Is Erroneous — GM's Own Warning

How C0550 Is Diagnosed
Modern four-step verification, per GM:
- Diagnostic System Check — Vehicle.
- With a scan tool, clear C0550. "If the DTC will not clear, replace the control module."
- Ignition off, remove the scan tool, open and close the driver's door.
- Wait 60 seconds for the module sleep cycle, ignition on, recheck. "If DTC C0550 sets, replace the module."
On older brake module and Quadrasteer applications the path is longer: diagnostic system check, other codes first, sensor supply voltage window, 5-volt reference short tests, battery feed and MEGA fuse test, connector pin fit, then the module.
